Books: Gertrude Bell

As I was going through an old notebook I came upon a torn out review page of Desert Queen.

About five years ago I organised an altered book project entitled, "Unrepresented Women" and I believe I had hoped to include Bell into one or more layouts. She, unlike her Bloomsbury family, left the comfort of society and traveled alone to the far reaches of the Arab world, sometime with Lawrence himself.

I was so passionate about the subject I wrote a short piece for the Artitude zine.

While the Western press praised her--she contributed significantly (the Iraq Museum, one of her many projects) not everyone saw her in a positive light, and this piece in the Arab press certainly paints a unique picture of Bell.
