The prediction of a storm, with more than 5" of snow, is disheartening as I just got out of a frozen door yesterday, and the snow started, albeit lightly, at 11:45am.

Before it slips away

Having determined I need to get back to an easel, a drawing board, a drafting table, my knee and do some art, I started poking my head around the internet.

Where did all the AJers go?

What is so and so up to?

Where's the crowd from True Colors?

I made discoveries!

And I found some if not all the old players!

While doing this searching and looking, I also had a flash back of the road traveled on the internet when I returned to New York, now twelve years ago.

I believe I started with an AOL account; now buried. My interest in phenomenology brought me to education, philosophy, astrology and tarot. This interest lead to some chat rooms. After joining a large Yahoo tarot group , I discovered an art journal group which led back to making tarot cards rather than reading them.

Somewhere during that time I was a member of about 10, 15, 25 on-line art groups.

I discovered magazines like Somerset Studios, got published, started a 'zine, made art, altered books, continued pondering the universe through visual tarot and then went on the road leaving my supplies in a box.

More than two years have passed.

The journeys on the internet and on the road occasionally collided.

Face to face meetings occurred in Portland, Seattle, Taos, Asheville, Santa Fe, Scottsdale, Albany, Brattleboro, Northampton, New York.

I am still but restless.

I am prepared but unsteady.

I have room but greedy for more.

I have the supplies.

Do I have the fortitude?

Card of the Day: High Priestess

I find it interesting to pull the High Priestess after getting the Magician yesterday.

But then again whilst doing a mundane task, like painting a wall, the unconscious has ample opportunity to wander across many terrains and make myriad discoveries.

One of the last tasks I did last night was clear up some papers and among those papers were my writing files.

In these papers I found material for at least two short stories.

Card of the Day: Death XIII

Every time we take a breath we are moving closer to death, but the Death card, itself, does not indicate death in the literal sense but rather it says, "something is ending" and sometimes it is better to move away from an event, partner, project, etc.

I asked a question, but the same question I've been asking for two weeks, "Can I finish this project?"

This time I had a deadline in mind, so death may very well indicate that I will succeed and be able to move onto something bigger and more meaningful than painting walls, sashes and cutting and fitting molding.

I sure hope so!

Card of the Day: Strength

A strange day to pull Strength, but that's the card of the day.

I managed to get half my errands done, and make it to Narrowsburg for a good bye cup of coffee with my dear friend, J, at Roaster's. It was pouring so hard when I arrived in town, I sat in the car and listened to a radio interview with Charles Boch for more than 20 minutes. Boch it appears has just had his first novel, Beautiful Children, published. One wouldn't suspect that the writer is 38 years old and not 50 with dozens of novels under his belt. He is a very confident, and engaging speaker.

He had some very insightful answers to listener's questions, most of whom were MFA students and/or writers. One question from the audience was "how did he develop a story?" He replied that he permitted his unconscious to steer the writing rather than control the story with a planned outcome. He went on to say that when this occurs, the story writes itself and a more natural, energetic voice emerges.

Strength!

Full Moon Dreams

At one time I had hundreds of tarot decks and dozens of books on the subject. It was a collection I started at age 19.

Before I left New York I decided to sell most of them. With the help of two friends who had large tarot mailing lists, and two tarot groups of which I was a member, I was able to find good homes for most of the decks and 90% of the books.

Now three years later I can't recall what I kept--so an inventory is in order. It won't be as long a list as it once was and it might settle my mind as someone recently wrote asking for a deck and I had to pause to see if I had it.

Card of the Day: Two of Swords

I haven't pulled the 2 of Swords since August 2.

However, there was a time I pulled this card nearly every day.

Card of the Day: 5 of Coins

Although the most obvious meaning of this card is feeling loss, most frequently associated with money, today I think it is about energy and a diminution of energy and more importantly the inability to get to sleep. My sleep pattern has become so disruptive and I haven't been able to re-program myself for the sanity of eight hours.

More and more I am still awake at 2a.m. and even 4a.m. than asleep and it makes for a hard morning, and a difficult day.

Yesterday and today both can be described as totally lethargic, and without motivation. So, today I am trying not to catch up so much as just do what I intended doing yesterday. Pushing back plans is not something I savour, and it puts a black cloud in an otherwise potential silver lining.

So many challenges, so many images to choose from among my favourite and unknown decks.

I see some serious adventures and challenges ahead.

Queen of Cups

Although I don't use this deck as often as others, the Artists Inner Vision remains among my favourites, one because so many of the cards are beautiful and two because so many of the artists are people I've worked with on one project or another.

Cath's card of the Queen of Cup's is so Cathleen and the perfect card to draw today.
