New York City Marathon, Today and I am not there!

Marathon Route 2011

My beloved daughter and her husband drove up from Pittsburgh on Friday and are now running the New York City Marathon.  Unfortunately my recent surgery prohibits me from driving so I am eager to hear the results later today.

They both ran the full and half marathons in Pittsburgh and my daughter ran a full in Alaska to raise funds for leukemia--her first.

37 Years Later, Singer Rides Again

Little did I know that day I spent a small guilder fortune for a Singer sewing machine in Amsterdam on the Rozengracht that 37 years later my daughter would take it upon herself to refurbish it and ask me that magic question, "Mom, how does it work?"

It took two longish phone calls but I think she can now thread the bobbin, install the correct foot and sew!

Water, PBS and my own daughter


Today is the day for stars in my personal sky. I just heard from my daughter that she was interviewed and appears in a PBS special on water conservation--unfortunately, not available here in my local area.

A bio-ecologist, she was the Executive Director of one of Pennsylvania's watershed organisations, and undoubtedly the reason for her inclusion. She does not appear in the trailer.
