There are so many beautiful places in the world, and some of them are magical.
One of several cities I visited that qualifies as magical is the City of Jerusalem.
In the winter of 1982 I took an hour long bus ride from Tel Aviv to the old City. I was concentrating or distracted by something or someone during the short trip but when I looked up I thought I was entering which I thought of as Shangri-La--the sun glistening on a white landscape that evolved into a radiant ancient place where turrets, chimes, colour and sound all merged to form the City of Jerusalem.
The only other city that gave me that feeling was the Vatican.
On December 15, National Geographic will air a special on Jerusalem's Sacred Places.
