Waterman History

Strange but true, although I am trying to downsize I find myself more curious about specific fountain pens than ever before.

I bid on what was described as a Waterman Ideal but after extensive emails back and forth, it appears the pen has a Wirt nib. After posting on Lion and Pen, I received a little information about the nib, but can't say whether this is a fact or a surmise. In either case, if I want to downsize, and possibly buy either an ED Waterman or that Lozenge Pelikan, I am not going to up my bid and thus fall short of the reserve.
